TAKING CARE OF MARBLE
Used in a wide range of applications,
marble is a naturally occurring beautiful stone. Being a versatile stone, it
can adorn almost any corner and area of your home. Although, this stone is
somewhat durable, it can tarnish or wear if not cared for properly. It is a
misconception that marble can be cleaned in a similar manner as that of
granite. However, one should note that marble is a softer stone and hence more
prone to staining, chipping, and chemical etching.
One of the easiest ways to avoid tarnishing
and scratching of marble is to keep it clean and free of debris on a regular
basis. Do not use vinegar or any such highly-acidic solution to clean the stone
as it may cause chemical etching. You ought to clean acidic substances such as
wine, juice or soft drinks immediately, as they can spoil your marble. If some
oil-based liquid gets spilled on marble, an effective remedy would be using
powder, alcohol and warm water.
Marble is quite fragile in nature. It can
be easily scratched, hence, avoid keeping heavy objects on this stone. If
damage is caused due to chipping and deep scratches, it becomes hard to repair
it. Regular polishing of this stone is the best way to increase its life span.
A protective layer is formed by the marble polish in order to ward-off chemical
etching, stains and water spots. Restoration and refinishing of your marble
after some time would benefit a lot. There are various marble shops in Delhi. Contact us for details.
